Put the Academy’s in-house staff expertise to work for you and your practice when you need help resolving a payment issue.
Sometimes it is as simple as connecting with the right person who can act with authority on behalf of the payer. Other times, the influence of a 2,300-member organization can compel an insurance company to engage in productive dialogue when an individual physician or small group family practice cannot.
TNAFP has valuable connections with the major payers and will serve as your liaison and advocate when you have exhausted all other measures. From uncovering payer hassles to identifying practice-based improvements to correct and prevent denials, TNAFP will advocate on your behalf to escalate issues and work toward a successful resolution.
As a certified coder and auditor, TNAFP Director of Member Services Karen Baird has the knowledge and experience to review claims and medical records to help practices identify causes for payment and auditing issues and develop a remediation plan. She is also certified in healthcare compliance and can advise members on compliance-related matters.

TNAFP is proud to partner with Main Street Health, the nation’s largest provider of value-based care focused exclusively on serving rural America. The core of Main Street’s model is placing a locally hired Health Navigator (at no cost) in each clinic location to work alongside existing clinic staff to support their senior patients. Reducing provider burnout, supporting existing care teams and workflows, and driving extra revenue to the practice are key drivers for our model. The Health Navigator works well alongside existing quality initiatives like community health workers or CCM and uses Main Street’s proprietary technology to assist with care coordination with a focus on social determinants of health (SDOH) needs. Additionally, Main Street Health pays its partners a predictable, transparent, monthly revenue stream with no downside risk or upfront investment.

TNAFP has established a referral arrangement with Parker | Lawrence, a 40-year-old general civil practice law firm in Nashville, to connect members with professional legal counsel.
The firm will offer one hour of attorney time without charge to any TNAFP member. The first hour of attorney time includes all attorney time from the initial phone and/or email communications, any document review within the first hour, etc. After the first hour, the firm and the TNAFP member must choose whether to form an attorney-client relationship and agree upon any related fee arrangement.
TNAFP engaged the firm specifically as an employment contract review resource for graduating residents and other physician members changing practice environments. Parker | Lawrence attorneys are available to consult and assist on any situation within their practice areas, however, including reviewing and interpreting employment contracts and related agreements, severance agreements, general employment law matters, and representing clients in employment-related litigation.
