KSA – Behavioral Healthcare

Join TNAFP virtually or in person on Friday, March 20, for the Behavioral Healthcare KSA! Earn CME* and ABFM points for maintenance of certification while learning about diagnosis and management of specific disorders and behavioral health conditions.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this activity, learners will be able to treat common behavioral health issues in their practice settings and engage communities in improving overall mental health.

Dr. William T. Bates, III, is a board-certified family physician dedicated to comprehensive, patient-centered care. A Cleveland, Tennessee, native and Eagle Scout, he earned his B.S. in Biology from Lee University as a Rymer Scholar before graduating as a member of the inaugural class of the University of Pikeville–Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine.

Dr. Bates began his career in rural solo practice before returning to Cleveland and later joining CHI Memorial Family Medicine Associates – Ooltewah, where he practices today as part of a multi-provider team serving the greater Chattanooga community.

Dr. Bates has served on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians since 2011, including roles as Speaker of the Congress and current Vice President. He also serves on the Board of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society.

* The AAFP has reviewed KSA – Behavioral Health Care and deemed it acceptable for up to 8.00 Knowledge Self-Assessment, Live AAFP Prescribed credit(s). Term of Approval is from 03/20/2026 to 03/20/2026. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

AMA/AAFP Equivalency –
AAFP Prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association as equivalent to AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)™ toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. When applying for the AMA PRA, Prescribed credit earned must be reported as Prescribed, not as Category 1.
