Leadership Elections

The TNAFP Nominating Committee invites and encourages members to nominate themselves or a peer to voluntarily serve in an open leadership position.

Members can self-nominate or submit another member’s name to be considered for any position. The only eligibility requirement is that the nominee’s TNAFP/AAFP membership must be in good standing. 

The deadline for all nominations is Friday, February 27, 2026. The Nominating Committee will review all applications and nominations and recommend a slate of candidates for positions that are open during the 2026 election cycle for terms in 2027. The TNAFP Congress of Delegates will then vote on the Nominating Committee’s recommended slate of candidates at its next annual meeting, which is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026. Appointees will be installed in fall 2026 for terms running October 2026 to October 2027.

The following positions are open for the current election cycle. Some members whose terms are expiring may be eligible for reappointment.

Officers (1-year terms)

• Vice President (1-year term with automatic ascent to President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President for a total of 4 years, unless Nominating Committee and Board or Congress modify)
• Speaker of the Congress (1-year term)
• Vice Speaker of the Congress (1-year term) 

Board of Directors (2-year terms)

• Director – East Division
• Alternate Director – East Division 
• Director – Middle Division
• Alternate Director – Middle Division 
• Director – West Division
• Alternate Director – West Division 
• Alternate Director – Residents (1-year term with automatic ascent to Director for a total of two years, unless Nominating Committee and Board or Congress modify)
• Alternate Director – Students (1-year term with automatic ascent to Director for a total of two years, unless Nominating Committee and Board or Congress modify

2026 Schedule and Process

November 2025-February 27, 2026
Nominations open for all members to submit candidates

Early March 2026
Nominating Committee convenes to review nominations, identify additional candidates (if necessary) and prepare a recommended slate of nominees for open positions.

TNAFP notifies nominees of the Nominating Committee’s selections to confirm their acceptance and allow candidates time to plan to attend the annual conference.

Saturday, March 21, 2026
Nominating Committee officially presents its slate of candidates during the annual Congress of Delegates meeting and Congress votes to approve a list of representatives.

October 2026 (TBD)

Leaders are officially installed and new leadership terms begin.
